Billirubin Baby

The morning we were supposed to check out of the hospital the pediatrician told us that Elle had intermediate to severe jaundice, so under the billi-lights she had to go. They made me hurry and feed her and then told us she would be under the lights for three hour periods, then they would bring her back for me to feed her again and back under the lights she would go. It was 7 in the morning and they said they would have to do it until 6 that night. Luckily we had such a nice nurse that worked it out so we could stay in our hospital room until Elle was done with the lights. We got to go to the nursery to visit her, but it broke my heart to see her alone under the lights with her googles on. The poor thing was in the dark almost the whole day. So at 6 oclock that night they finally discharged us to go home! But for the next three days I had to pack her up early in the morning and take her to the hospital to be weighed and have her blood drawn. One of the times I had to go to the lab at Alta View hospital. They were remodeling so they drew her blood out in the lobby with construction workers cutting tile next to us...somethings not right with that picture! Luckily by Saturday they felt like her bilirubin levels were decreasing! We are glad our jaunt with jaundice is over!

Our Little Beauty

Elsie Sophia Irving

Baby Elle
Born Monday Feb 1 2010 at 10:46 am
7lbs 02 oz - 19 1/2 inches long

Our little angel girl has finally arrived!! She is such a sweetheart and we love her so much!!

The week before she was born I was doing everything in my power to put myself into labor.
I did the elipitcal for 3 miles, went on walks with Amy up hills, drank raspberry tea, I even resorted to Castor oil ( I will never do that again. I put me into labor for an hour and then the contractions just stopped). But this little girl had plans of her own.

My moms birthday is actually Feb.1 and the second I told my mom I was pregnant she told me I had to have her first grandchild on her birthday. So sure enough on Monday morning, Feb. 1 at 5 am we went to the hospital because I thought my water had broken. False alarm and I wanted to die. Luckily I started regular contractions when we got there and was admitted an hour later (after walking the halls for an hour to make sure I would progress... I wanted to die and Dave had no mercy.. he was not going home). Then everything happened so quick. I got my epidural at 8 am which was heaven and then at 10:46 she was here!!!

Her long dark hair is so funny! I was born with dark hair but not quite as much as she has. Her hair has golden roots with golden looking highlights! She for sure has my nose, which I was convinced from the ultrasound pictures that she had Daves nose, and she has her Daddys mouth and chin. Her eyes are up for debate. I think they are an exact mix of Dave and I. And to top it off she has the exact little stork birth mark that I had as a baby.

We love this little girl so much and are so happy and grateful to have her in our lives!! We are so blessed that she is healthy and arrived safe!! She is such a blessing!
